No matter how focused we may find ourselves on a knitting project, the fact of the matter is… distractions happen.
The timer on the oven dings, the kids have seriously pressing questions that they simply MUST interrupt your deep knitting thought process to ask (such as… ‘When is dinner ready?’ or ‘Where are my shoes with the blue laces?’), the delivery person raps on your door with a parcel, you realize that you really should stop knitting and get out the door to get to work… the list goes on!
The point is, having to drop your knitting project mid-row/mid-pattern repeat is a very common thing amongst knitters, but worry not! There are loads of solutions to keep yourself (and your knitting project!) in check.
One of our favorite tools? The Row Counter! Pictured throughout this post is a wonderful variety of options- some old school, some hot-off-the-press. But you know what? They all do the same thing! Whichever one is best is the one that works best for you. And the only way to know? Is to try them all of course!
Whether you prefer the traditional rainbow coloured counters pictured below that can slide onto the end of your straight needles with little dials at either end, or whether you prefer the electronic stitch counter that you can wrap around your finger and simply hit the +1 button at the end of each row- they all do the same thing! They keep you on track with your knitting.
Should these not be conducive to your tech-saavy lifestyle however, worry not! Because as they say… “There’s an app for that!”
A simple search in the App Store, and you will find that there are loads of apps for keeping track of one’s knitting. We have been reading up on all of these apps, but felt that we would save that post for another day- so stay tuned!
So what are your thoughts? Do you have a favourite row counter? And why do you love it? Be sure to let us know!
To get your hands on some row counters, be sure to give you LYS a call to see what they have in stock. They would be more than happy to help you keep track of those stitches- no doubt!
Wishing you all a very happy Wednesday.
