A Poppy for Remembrance- Free Pattern Friday

Today’s free pattern is not actually ‘free’, but we feel that it is for a very good reason!

Next Wednesday, November 11th, we will stop to remember the sacrifices of the men and women who have fought for our country.

Many of us will wear poppies on our left lapel that are purchased from countertops in stores and shopping malls across the country for a small donation. The money raised from the sale of poppies goes to Canada’s Veterans and their families in need. To read about the Poppy Campaign, please click here.

Using only a tiny amount of worsted weight yarn, you can knit your own poppy. It won’t take long to do, and the time spent knitting can also be spent reflecting on how lucky we are to live in the country that we do, in large part, thanks to the men and women who have fought so hard for our freedom.

So while today’s Poppy pattern by Laura Chau is ‘technically’ free, you are strongly urged to make a donation to the Royal Canadian Legion.
