Some Colourful Crochet Inspiration

I know that not everyone loves crochet. For some, it’s just ‘too soon’ to fall in love with it following the horrific afghans that resided in everyone’s basement throughout the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s… heck! I still have one in my basement!

However, for those of us that can get past that phase of crochet’s dark history, it’s easy to see why it has made such a huge comeback in more recent years.

Not only does it move along quickly, there is simply no better way to use up bits and pieces of yarn from projects that have been cast off and long since forgotten about. Is there anything more satisfying than using up that tiny bit of yarn that you have been saving for… who knows what reason?

Cascade 220 is a 100% wool that is well priced, and comes in a VAST range of amazing shades. Don’t believe me? Check out the shade card! It’s a yarn that we all find ourselves picking up a skein or two of each time we find ourselves at the yarn shop. A pair of mittens here… a hat there… before you know it, you have a basket that makes Rainbow Brite’s knee socks look dull. Don’t like the idea of handwashing/dry cleaning wool? There’s a washable version! Don’t like wool at all? Try Cascade’s synthetic yarn called Cherub Aran!

So, what do you do with those odds and ends? Why, you pick up a crochet hook of course! And whether or not you have the stash (or the patience!) to get through either an afghan, or a cushion, I assure you that it will be ultra satisfying to burn through those tiny balls of yarn, no matter which way you slice it.

So, without further ado, I present to you a collection of colourful and inspiring crochet images that I have been slowly gathering from from the web. Links to patterns or info regarding the pattern can be found below.

And don’t forget… as with all ‘stash buster’ projects, it’s okay to have to pick up an extra skein or two to ‘tie it all together’.

As if you needed another excuse to hit up your local yarn shop…
